Christmas Mix

I was over at my friends house last night and he dug out an old c90 tape which featured John Peel playing some obscure Christmas records (it was broadcast on Christmas Eve 1992 I guess in the afternoon as wasn't it in his usual late evening slot) but awesome stuff from start to finish -so 20 tunes from that playlist the whole show can be found on a podcast

Merry Christmas

Namechangin'

Thought it would be a good idea to change name seeing as there is an already a similar named blog out there in cyberspace prior to mine  http://black2com.blogspot.co.uk
and it's a rather good blog as it turns out so  I figured it best to change name (great minds think alike-and love The MC5 ) so seeing since I put a fair bit of effort trying to nurture a  little radio station  for  a few years  thought I'd change the name and address in  an effort to promote that instead so to celebrate this blogs re-birth and  re-christianing  here's  a vid playlist featuring the artists currently on my playlists roster at http://www.live365.com/stations/fuzzchile1966?play=2  .. now I gotta figure out how to make this new  blogger layout work for me ..  I'm not  a fan of how page currently looks right now and not sure how to navigate around it..

The Big Squeeze

The First band I ever saw back in 1987-so I would of been 13 or 14 at the time-in fact they played only last month in my hometown-Tilbrook and Difford still going strong .. so a nice big playlist that goes up to that period (Playlist would be never ending if I go up to the present day) plus a documentary about the group

The Misunderstood

The Misunderstood have gotta be one of the most underreated groups from the 1960's. I Can Take You to the Sun recorded before The Beatles Revolver came out signalled the birth of the psychadelic era just as much as Tommorow Never Knows in my mind come to think of it My Mind -there's nothing quite like that song on Earth or beyond (knocks spots off The Yardbirds if you ask me .. the young John Ravenscroft had a very good ear even as far back as 1965. .. that's where I first heard My Mind and I Can Take You to the Sun in early 1990's just before Nirvana got big when they used to put Peel on very late at night .. but it was perfect timing to hear those tunes.. I was just getting into Garage music I'd come back from a club watching bands trying to sound like sixties punk but once I got home and switched radio on and heard The Misunderstood I realised that's how it's meant to be done.I've also included a few Juicy Lucy tunes as steel guitarist Glenn Campbell Ross was instrumental in creating that godlike sound(I wonder what a steel slide sitar electrified would sound like ) and rare footage of singer Rick and Glenn in their 1980's incarnation of The Misunderstood, Influence. I hope someday the screenplay that's been written about the band does make it to the silver screen as it's quite a story.I envy anyone who hears the early stuff for the first time ever ..prepared to be blown away.

Peel

If there's one man that has influenced my taste in music more than anyone else it's got to be John ..A real  Disc Jockey unlike that Vile aberration like that   silver haired scumbag dominating the headlines as I type this.  I noticed they've made a feature film all about the original label that put out Teenage Kicks -Good Vibrations might be worth a look. pity there's no clips on youtube yet but should be soon.

Dave the Rave Part 1

Really good night of TV last night watching BBC4 documentary about Dave Davis of The Kinks ..been a big fan of his blend of rave up guitar thought I'd feature a few of his finest moments here (then I realised there are lots of finest moments so this will be a two or three parter post)

"Osterbergs Fifth Symphony"

Had to start this blog off with the greatest long player in all history.. and you can quote me on that The Stooges Fun House ... in 42 years nothing has come close to it not even The Stooges themselves .It just goes to show that vocalists should use PA systems when recording and get Don Galluchi into a studio to produce .. I will never tire of this record .
